The American Academy Of Adoption Attorneys (AAAA)

Formed in early 1990, the organization held its first national conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, in May of 1990. Its membership is composed of attorneys throughout the United States who specialize in adoption-related matters, such as assistance in independent placements, representation of adoptive and biological parents in court and preparation and filing of adoption-related pleadings.

While most members are attorneys in private practice, some serve as officers or staff of licensed child-placing agencies. The vast majority of AAAA members represent parties in INDEPENDENT ADOPTION.

The stated goal of the organization is to improve adoption laws and practices, especially in the area of independent adoption. The organization provides referrals for adoption attorneys who are members.

Prospective members must apply for membership acceptance and are screened by current members.
