encyclopedia of adoption
biographical information
Usually refers to information on prospective adoptive parents, including age, interests, reasons why they wish to adopt, hobbies and other information needed by the caseworker and/or the birthparents.
Some agencies ask prospective adoptive parents to write a special RESUME or profile that will be seen by birthparents considering adoption. Such a resume will usually include nonidentifying information, such as the individual's profession (if this information is nonidentifying), hobbies and so forth. (See also BACKGROUND INFORMATION.)
