Sharing the responsibilities of parenthood with another person or family.
The term "co-parenting" is often used as a disparaging and negative term by people who dislike COOPERATIVE ADOPTION and OPEN ADOPTION and who believe the child should be parented by one mother and one father only, despite the biological tie with the parents who conceived the child.
