medically fragile
Term used by child welfare experts, usually to denote a child with a very severe medical problem; for example, pediatric aids or an addiction at birth to crack cocaine. (See also BOARDER BABIES; DRUG ABUSE; AIDS; SPECIAL NEEDS.)
