Programs such as Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) food stamps, medicaid and other payment or in-kind programs for categorically eligible families. Indications are that unwed mothers who choose to parent their infants and children have a higher probability of applying for and receiving public assistance than do birthmothers who choose adoption for their children.
